Birds in My Garden

A bird does not sing because it has the answer; it sings because it has a song.

My new hand embroidery pattern design, “Birds In My Garden,” a summer sampler, is near completion. There will be 20 small sections of various sizes in this design. Each section can be used separately to make a mug rug or small hanging, or they can all be used together for a larger hanging, measuring 20″x 20″.

This section features a hanging basket of flowers with hummingbirds looking for nectar. Stitches include backstitch, straight stitch and coral stitch for borders.

Origami fabric squares are used as accents. These are very easy and quick to make and a button holds them in place.

Nineteen more sample sections to stitch, but they don’t take too long and are fun to do. There is a lot of texture and color in this pattern. I’m really having fun with this one.

Happy stitching!
